Emily's first birthday

January 26, 2014
Lancaster, CA

It seems like only yesterday, we found out we were having another baby! My fondest memories of my pregnancy was feeling her little kicks and looking down at my belly and seeing how it made waves from her movement. I loved being pregnant with Emily. It was such an easy pregnancy. Never did I get sick or nauseous. I also remember when Henry told the boys that mom was having a baby and to be extra nice and helpful. At that moment Michael looked at me and pointed at my stomach and said "its Emily". Going to the doctor for the gender-determination ultrasound was especially sweet. The boys got to go with us and when the doctor announced it was a girl, Michael said "I told you". Henry was excited but he was still nervous that the ultrasound could be wrong. Her birthday was amazing. We went to the hospital because I was not feeling normal. I was sent back home. That same night I started having contractions and I decided to rest in the bathtub. The boys and Henry went to sleep. It was then that I realized that my contractions were getting very close together 2-3 minutes apart. That is when the fun began. Adventure 1. how to get out of the tub. :) after getting out. I woke up Henry and told him it was time to go. He asked me if I was sure. I was able to call Carol, my sister and my mom on the ride to the hospital. When we arrived I was already 6cm. by the time they moved me to the delivery room I was 8cm. Emily was born soon after that. When she was born, she was so alert and was able to open her eyes immediate after birth and look at her daddy. It was love at first sight.

Fast forward: Emily learned to walk at 9 months. She now weighs 22.3 lbs. she is 29 inches or as Louis put it she is 2 1/2 feet. She loves playing with her dolls specially her Dora doll. She can clap and give and blow kisses. She enjoys playing outside in the dirt. When it comes to food she eats everything. She likes eating her grandmothers' chicken soup. She likes fruit any type of berry is preferred. But she absolutely loves apples! I am learning a lot, first I had to learn how to comb her her. (still working on it). I had to learn how to match her clothing. Thank goodness I have my nieces for that!
Emily has been such an amazing blessing in our lives. I could not imagine my life with out her.
