Derek's Thanksgiving Birthday

Derek wanted to celebrate his birthday thanksgiving style. He requested ham, baked potatoes, and firecracker green beans.
I asked Derek what he would with a million dollars, he replied that he would buy his mom a belt??? We will need to ask him for clarification and an explanation.

Happy birthday Derek! I love your kind and gentle soul. You are a great kid! Love you from here to the moon.

Changes

2014 Back to school time. It is hard to believe that the kids are growing.

This year we are so proud that Louis was accepted to the California State University of Long Beach. He is in the Engineering program and in 2.5 years he will have his Bachelors degree. Desi is a Senior in high school and we are planning for the graduation. Prici started high school and is still playing softball. Michael is in 10th grade and enjoys band. Derek started middle school and is still drawing. Destiny is in fourth grade. Jason started first grade. Aaron is the newbie in school, he is in P-K. As for Emily she is in a lovely home daycare while we are at work.

Life is changing, and we are adjusting to it. As a parent, it is both exciting and sad. Exciting because we want our kids to reach their goal and their dreams and sad because as they grow they become more independent and less attached, to us the parents. What I can say, is that our kids, are a great bunch. They love, care and respect each other. I know that they will make good choices in life and they will become resposible, hardworking, generous, God loving adults. I love you all and I am so proud of you.

Mommy, did you pack my lunch?

February 18th 2014

This conversation took place as I picked up Jason from School:

Jason: Mommy did you pack my lunch?
Letty: Yes, I packed your lunch this morning, why?
Jason: there was something wrong with my sandwich.
Letty: But I did it just the way you like: mayo, cheese and mustard.
Jason: No! you did something wrong, there was something hard inside my sandwich.
Letty: What was it?
Jason: I don't know.
Letty: You didn't see it?
Jason: No, it was inside and it was hard like a seed.
Letty: Well I did not do anything different. Promise.

Later that night as I was getting Jason ready for bed. He was in the bathroom brushing his teeth. I went over to check on him and help him out. As I was brushing his teeth a told him to say cheese and I notice his teeth was missing.

Letty: Jason! You lost your teeth.
Jason: (just gave me a crazy look)
Letty: Jason your teeth is missing!
Jason: I did not loose my teeth!
Letty: Jason was that the hard thing on your sandwich? Maybe you bit your sandwich and your teeth fell off.
Jason: (Tears start rolling down his cheeks) but I threw it away.
Letty: It's ok honey...
Jason: (crying more) Now I am not going to get money from the tooth fairy.

Luckily for him The Tooth-fairy now has GPS on the teeth, she was able to find it and left Jason $2.00 under his pillow.

Thank you Tooth Fairy!

Emily's first birthday

January 26, 2014
Lancaster, CA

It seems like only yesterday, we found out we were having another baby! My fondest memories of my pregnancy was feeling her little kicks and looking down at my belly and seeing how it made waves from her movement. I loved being pregnant with Emily. It was such an easy pregnancy. Never did I get sick or nauseous. I also remember when Henry told the boys that mom was having a baby and to be extra nice and helpful. At that moment Michael looked at me and pointed at my stomach and said "its Emily". Going to the doctor for the gender-determination ultrasound was especially sweet. The boys got to go with us and when the doctor announced it was a girl, Michael said "I told you". Henry was excited but he was still nervous that the ultrasound could be wrong. Her birthday was amazing. We went to the hospital because I was not feeling normal. I was sent back home. That same night I started having contractions and I decided to rest in the bathtub. The boys and Henry went to sleep. It was then that I realized that my contractions were getting very close together 2-3 minutes apart. That is when the fun began. Adventure 1. how to get out of the tub. :) after getting out. I woke up Henry and told him it was time to go. He asked me if I was sure. I was able to call Carol, my sister and my mom on the ride to the hospital. When we arrived I was already 6cm. by the time they moved me to the delivery room I was 8cm. Emily was born soon after that. When she was born, she was so alert and was able to open her eyes immediate after birth and look at her daddy. It was love at first sight.

Fast forward: Emily learned to walk at 9 months. She now weighs 22.3 lbs. she is 29 inches or as Louis put it she is 2 1/2 feet. She loves playing with her dolls specially her Dora doll. She can clap and give and blow kisses. She enjoys playing outside in the dirt. When it comes to food she eats everything. She likes eating her grandmothers' chicken soup. She likes fruit any type of berry is preferred. But she absolutely loves apples! I am learning a lot, first I had to learn how to comb her her. (still working on it). I had to learn how to match her clothing. Thank goodness I have my nieces for that!
Emily has been such an amazing blessing in our lives. I could not imagine my life with out her.
