Very Pink Birthday

Destiny's Birthday
March 21, 2009

Before we left on our trip we could not leave without celebrating Destiny's birthday with her. Destiny is my youngest niece. She is my brother Brian's youngest daughter. She's the baby of the bunch. She turned 4 years old.

After asking her if she was happy now that she was 4 this is what she told me, " I like being four because it is easier" what is easier? I asked her? She said "three is hard I can't do it" This answer really surprised me until I realized what she was talking about: Three is hard because she struggles with holding her pinky and thumb together when she wanted to say with her fingers that she was three. But four is easy because you just put your thumb down. AHHHH so cuuuuuuute!

One last thing to do:

Mc Farlane store
Glendale, AZ

Michael wanted to shop at the Mc Farlane store a store the sells action figures. Michael is starting a collection of Halo Action figures. He had save his money and when he found out that the Mc Farlane store was in Arizona and that we where going there, he made sure that the store was in our things to do on our trip.

Final Stop! Family time!

Glendale, AZ

Our final stop was visiting Henry's brother Leo, and his wife my cousin Liz, and their kids Danny, Dennis, Justin and Jacob. We had fun with them, it was so nice to see them and their new house. Thanks for letting us stay in your new house!

Arizona State Capitol

State Capitol, Phoenix, AZ

In Phoenix we cruised around the city and we visited the state capitol building. We learned a lot about the Navajo code talkers. The boys liked the USS Arizona a ship that was sank in the attack of Pearl Harbor.

In my opinion the state capitol of California is so much nicer, cleaner and more informative.

Setting Up Camp

Dead Horse ranch State Park, AZ

Camping! The boys favorite thing to do. Because of the weather in AZ we were not able to camp as much as we wanted to. In the Grand Canyon and in Red Rock canyon the weather dropped down to 17 degrees. In this state park the night was a cool 68 degrees. Louis and Michael set up our tent as Jason watched them. Henry got our fire ready and I prepared some food. At night the stars felt like they were within reach. We heard coyotes howling in the distance. In the morning we watched the sunrise from our tent. Later we walked along the river, where Michael decided to go fishing.

Red Rock Canyon

Red Rock Canyon, AZ

Back on the road! We took a cruise on the 17fwy which lead us to red rock canyon. It was such a scenic route. It was so cute that the boys pick these spot to have lunch. As I made lunch for them, the boys took a hike with dad. These are the pictures they took of their hike.

Route 66

Williams, AZ

After leaving the Grand Canyon we stayed a night on a small town called Williams. Route 66 goes right through Williams. We had dinner there, we had the Route 66 special. Which was a pizza with pepperoni, onion, bell pepper, bacon and anchovies.

Grand Canyon

March 23, 2009
Grand Canyon, AZ

We have finished our trip to the Grand Canyon. The views were amazing. The Canyon is so unbelieveable! Jason is really enjoying it, He keeps pointing at the canyon with eyes of amazement. We had to be really careful with him since he wanted to climb over the edges, and run to the edge at every opportunity he had. Louis was our photographer and Michael our explorer. We got to see all the South Rim. The boys even hiked down. The weather was cold and hot at the same time, we even got snow on the first day we were there. Louis wants to hike the canyon all the way down to the Colorado River. He is gonna recruit all his uncles to go with him next year.

Sunday we took a quick road trip to Fillmore. We went honey tasting at Bennett's Honey farm. It is a cute, little farm in between farm fields and orange orchards. We tasted many differnt varieties or honey. (cactus, avocado, and orange to name a few) Who knew that honey came in differnt flavors? Later we stopped by at one of the many fruit stands on the way, we bought some fresh fruit for the road. We ended our road trip in the city of Ventura. There we met my mom and Irma and Francisco. We visited the San Buenaventura mission. Michael for his fourth grade project had done some research on the mission, for him it was nice to see it with his own eyes. He was our tour guide.

Michael and his cousins Vivian and Pricilla participated in the annual El Dorado Elementary school performance, a performance that is held at the Lancaster, Performing Arts Center. This year the title of the performance was "Surf's Up." The entire school got to participate. The school staff and the kids put on a wonderful show. The show was "SOLD OUT"! We really enjoyed ourselves.
